CCC STRIKES BACK AT FAKE RECALL LETTER AMID POLITICAL STORM
In a recent turn of events, Zimbabwe’s eminent opposition faction, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has flatly disavowed a letter making rounds on social media falsely attributed to former MDC-T and PDP political activist, Songezo Tshabangu. The CCC clarified that Tshabangu, who isn’t a part of their rank, is the supposed author of this sham letter, which erroneously claims to recall its parliamentarians and councillors.
The party, in an official discourse, has fiercely denounced what it brands a desperate political subterfuge helmed by Tshabangu and his notorious associates from Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ), who allegedly have connections to the Central Intelligence Organization (CIO). According to the CCC, this plot aims to infiltrate and shake the stability of their ranks.
This scandal emerges shortly after CCC’s resolution to steer clear of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s state-of-the-nation address in the parliament, a gesture they claim has enraged Mnangagwa’s administration.
Gift Ostallos Siziba, the official mouthpiece for CCC, elucidated, “It has surfaced to the awareness of the Citizens Coalition for Change that letters, ostensibly penned by an individual claiming to be the interim Secretary-General, are circulating on social media asserting that the Citizens’ Movement has recalled named councillors and Members of Parliament.”
He proceeded, “The general public is counseled to dismiss these with the disdain they merit. The CCC party has neither recalled nor does it envisage recalling any of its newly elected representatives. The alleged author of the two letters, Sengezo Tshabangu, has never been a member or official of the CCC party since its commencement. His last known allegiances lie with the MDC-T and PDP, and he is infamous for acting as a proxy to field fake CCC double candidates in Bulawayo and Matebeleland North.”
Siziba emphasized the party’s position, stating that actions are being taken against this impostor and his associates. This reprehensible act by Zanu PF, as they see it, is a retort to their 2023 electoral defeat and Zimbabwe’s rejection, and a feeble effort to counter their exercise of freedom of association by abstaining from the official parliament opening on October 3, 2023. He urged their representatives in local authorities and parliament to continue fulfilling their duties as dictated by the electorate in the recent elections.
The CCC’s vehement reproach of the counterfeit letter and its unyielding backing for its elected officials underscore its dedication to preserving its integrity and thwarting any endeavors to sabotage its operations.
Despite the allegations, Songezo Tshabangu has maintained silence. Nevertheless, the CCC remains unyielding in its commitment to protecting its reputation and ensuring that its members and supporters are not swayed by deceptive information.
In a call to action, the CCC has urged Zimbabweans to stay alert and discerning amid such misinformation campaigns, perceived as attempts to hinder the party’s undertakings and question its authenticity.
The unfolding political milieu in Zimbabwe continues to see the CCC as a robust and vocal opposition entity, keen on challenging the prevailing order and advocating for a change in the nation’s leadership helm.
In summation, the CCC’s resolute rebuttal to the false letter doing rounds on social media highlights the party’s allegiance to its elected officials and its preparedness to tackle any attempts to destabilise its operations. As the Zimbabwean political landscape unfolds, the CCC stands firm as a resolute opposition entity, ardently championing for change and representing the populace’s interests.
